Islam literally means, "submission to the will of Allah". Ours is not simply a religion.  It is a Deen, a way of life.  I am by no means an Orthodox Muslim.  I have always believed that a person's faith should flow inward thru the person, not outward from them.  The core of what I believe in is rooted in Islam, in the Deen that my parents taught me as a child; a faith that despite many people's impressions is ever changing, flexible and tolerant.
