Concessions to location

I’m at the DMV right now. There’s an Eastern European woman here with her son. And I marvel at how extraordinary people are that they can pick up and move to a wholly different country, a different culture; to leave everything and everyone they knew growing up and make a new life in a foreign land. Moving from Pittsburgh to NYC or Los Angeles is peanuts compared to moving to a completely different land.

But take it a little further. Amrika is ostensibly a nation of immigrants. It does a pretty fair job of assimilating folks. I was on a plane from Abu Dhabi to Casablanca once and met a Bangladeshi couple living in Marrakesh. Imagine that move.
